At Testμ Conf 2026, TestMu AI product leader Shantanu Wali argued that mobile app testing has lagged behind browser-focused agentic development despite the prevalence and complexity of native mobile use, where unstable accessibility hierarchies, diverse devices, hybrid interfaces, and high maintenance costs complicate automation. He demonstrated Kane CLI, a terminal-based tool that drives iOS simulators and Android emulators from natural-language objectives, handles native and WebView interactions, and can author replayable tests with saved artifacts. The session also presented an “assurance” workflow that begins with requirements or PRDs, derives and human-approves use cases, maps tests to acceptance criteria, executes them on devices, and produces evidence packs containing steps, screenshots, results, issues, and traceable coverage. A PRD-based demonstration generated 18 tests for 46 criteria and identified two application defects, while Wali emphasized measuring both designed coverage, or requirements with tests, and proven coverage, or tests that actually ran and passed.
