Benchmark Tessell RDS MySQL performance using Sysbench
Blog post from Tessell
In the context of an increasing number of Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) providers, the performance of MySQL database engines on AWS cloud was evaluated using Sysbench benchmarking tools to compare their capabilities. The evaluation, conducted on a Tessell RDS MySQL instance with a configuration of 8 vCPUs and 64 GB RAM, involved setting up a benchmarking environment within an AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) to minimize latency. The testing included write-only, read-only, and read-write load assessments, with performance metrics such as Queries Per Second (QPS) and Transactions Per Second (TPS) being recorded. The results indicated that the Tessell RDS delivered significantly higher Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS)—321% more—than AWS RDS under the same workload conditions, providing a visual comparative analysis of their performance outcomes at an equivalent cost.
