Benchmark Tessell for PostgreSQL performance using PGIO (SLOB)
Blog post from Tessell
Amidst the growing number of Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) providers, this text outlines a performance benchmarking study comparing PostgreSQL databases on AWS cloud, specifically using Tessell and AWS RDS. Utilizing the PGIO benchmarking tool, the study evaluates the performance of Tessell for PostgreSQL, provisioned with the "tesl_8h_a" shape, against AWS RDS under identical conditions. The benchmarking process involves setting up the environment, configuring PostgreSQL, and running tests to measure IOPS and cache hits. The results reveal that Tessell for PostgreSQL significantly outperforms AWS RDS, achieving 460% higher IOPS at the same cost for the SLOB workload, highlighting Tessell's superior performance in this context.
