Announcing Swimm’s IDE plugin: The most intuitive way to document code
Blog post from Swimm
Swimm has released a significant update to its IDE plugins for VS Code and JetBrains, enhancing the integration of documentation within the development environment to streamline workflows and improve efficiency. This update allows developers to create and edit documentation directly in the IDE using a rich-text editor, facilitating the documentation process as code is written without the need to switch tools. The new features include the ability to browse code and documentation simultaneously, with Swimm documents incorporating live code elements, charts, and diagrams that automatically update with local code modifications. The patented Auto-sync feature keeps documentation current within the IDE, alerting developers to changes affecting existing documentation even before changes are pushed. This innovative integration aims to address the inefficiency highlighted by an HBR study, which found that developers spend significant time reorienting themselves after switching between apps. Swimm's CTO, Omer Rosenbaum, emphasized the transformative nature of this update and encouraged user feedback to enhance the tool further.
