Surge Benchmarks Join the Fireworks Specialized Intelligence Index
Blog post from Surge AI
Surge AI has added six practitioner-designed benchmarks to the Fireworks Specialized Intelligence Index to assess whether AI models can perform realistic professional work rather than merely solve well-specified tasks. The DAYJOB benchmarks cover healthcare, finance, tax, accounting, and data science, while sudo L7 evaluates staff-level software engineering judgment; together, they test work involving ambiguous instructions, conflicting evidence, large collections of files, production codebases, and decisions where technically correct output may still be inappropriate. Developed and reviewed by experienced professionals such as portfolio managers, physicians, scientists, and senior engineers, the evaluations use detailed rubrics for correctness, verification, judgment, communication, and reliability. Tasks can require dozens or hundreds of input files, years of domain experience, and more than 20 hours of professional effort, while sudo L7 draws heavily from licensed production repositories involving systems such as payments, identity management, payroll, and ledgers. The index is intended to help teams compare models by specialized capabilities and end-to-end dependability across different forms of knowledge work.
