Never Record Again: How Montra Uses Supermemory to Rethink Video Creation
Blog post from Supermemory
Montra, a generative-only video editor founded by longtime creator Campbell Baron, aims to make AI-generated video the norm and recording the exception, but needed a reliable way for users to find and reuse clips created over time. After finding conventional vector database options such as Postgres ML, Supabase vectors, and Pinecone too complex or maintenance-heavy for its six-person team, Montra adopted Supermemory, which reportedly enabled a proof of concept in 30 minutes and integration within about a week. By storing media IDs with AI-generated descriptions, Montra now supports fast natural-language searches for clips, with the company claiming implementation was five times faster and search performance two to three times faster than alternatives, while requiring no ongoing infrastructure maintenance. Montra plans to extend this searchable library into a persistent memory system that can proactively recommend relevant clips, transitions, reuse options, music, and editing improvements based on users’ past projects, positioning Supermemory as a flexible infrastructure layer for context-aware product experiences.
