Supermaven joins Cursor

Supermaven, launched in February 2024 to enhance code completion with faster and context-aware models, is joining forces with Cursor. Despite initial efforts to develop their own editor due to the limitations of extension APIs in VS Code and JetBrains IDEs, the Supermaven team realized greater potential through collaboration with Cursor. This partnership aims to integrate new capabilities, such as model-driven jumps and a cohesive user interface, into Cursor's platform. While maintaining existing plugins for VS Code, JetBrains, and Neovim, the collaboration will focus on designing an editor UI that complements the advanced models, enhancing Cursor Tab with Supermaven's long-context technology. The merger promises continued improvements and innovation, supported by the community that has championed Supermaven.
