[Customer Success Story] How Mobile AI CCTV Supports Permit-to-Work Safety at a Power Plant
Blog post from Superb AI
A Korean combined heat and power plant operator worked with Superb AI in 2025 to deploy mobile AI CCTV units that continuously verify safety measures during high-risk maintenance work, supplementing manual permit-to-work checklists and fixed-camera coverage. The system identifies activities such as hot work, confined-space entry, heavy-equipment operations, and work at height, then checks for required controls including fire watches, extinguishers, ventilation, protective equipment, attendants, signal persons, and restricted access, alerting operators when measures cannot be confirmed. Portable case-style and enclosure-style units can be mounted on tripods, use LTE rather than installed network cabling, and can operate on portable batteries where fixed power is unavailable, allowing them to move among changing work locations. Integrated with the company’s existing monitoring dashboard and single sign-on system, the solution stores video clips of detected events to provide operational records and support regulatory response. The project may expand to automatically generate checklists and work reports from AI-recognized conditions, and the approach could also be applied to construction, roadwork, industrial plants, and other sites with variable work areas and limited infrastructure.
