PostgreSQL version 13.3 has been adopted as the default database version for new Supabase projects, thanks to Supabase's efforts in promoting open source tools and Postgres. Supabase provides various ways to use PostgreSQL without its platform, including a Postgres image on AWS Marketplace and Bundles. Additionally, Supabase is developing several extensions, such as supautils and pg_net. The latest version of PostgREST (8.0) offers improved performance, reduced downtime, dynamic configuration, and simplified administration, making it more enterprise-grade. This new version also includes features like reloadable schema cache, better diagnostic information, and simpler OpenAPI output. Supabase is now supporting a community-led Discord server to facilitate discussion and collaboration among developers.
