Trends from Money20/20 2026: The rise of “hidden” financial services
Blog post from Stripe
Money20/20 USA speakers highlighted a shift toward financial infrastructure that remains largely invisible to users while enabling more accessible products, with discussions centered on embedded stablecoin wallets, always-on money movement, and AI-driven payments. Stablecoin adoption may expand through wallets integrated into familiar apps and services rather than standalone crypto products, allowing users to access transfers, payouts, and other capabilities without managing crypto infrastructure directly. Around-the-clock stablecoin settlement and tokenized deposits are enabling real-time treasury, lending, investment, and cross-border payment services beyond conventional banking hours, reducing the need for advance funding. For agentic payments, companies are developing structured authorization systems that specify permitted purchases, spending limits, sellers, and expiration dates so consumers retain control while AI agents transact on their behalf. Stripe presented its products as infrastructure for combining fiat and stablecoin payments, embedded wallets, cards, global payouts, and agentic-commerce controls.
