Summary

Stripe migrated its vendor-payment operations from a mix of direct bank integrations, ERP workflows, and manual bank portal entries to Stripe Global Payouts, a platform that supports payments to recipients in more than 160 countries through a single API. After a phased US rollout beginning in February 2026, the company had paid more than $1 billion to over 3,400 US and UK vendors by October, reducing new-market setup time from up to six weeks to one week, saving finance and treasury teams an estimated 20–30 hours monthly, and maintaining a 99.9% payout success rate. The migration identified three main improvements: validating recipient and bank data before payments are submitted, providing recipients with clearer payment identifiers through customizable bank-statement descriptors, and raising ACH and wire transaction limits to $100 million to automate high-value payments. Global Payouts is generally available in the US and UK, and Stripe plans to expand cross-border, cross-currency, stablecoin, and AI-assisted payment and onboarding capabilities while allowing businesses to control agent access and payout approvals.
