Summary

A survey of 394 Link digital wallet users, conducted by Stripe, revealed significant engagement with AI technologies, with 80% having used chat-based agents in the past month and half employing AI for shopping research at least monthly. An analysis of spending patterns among 250 million Link customers showed increased investment in AI, particularly in platforms for building with AI, with the top 10% of spenders nearly doubling their monthly AI expenditure from $183 to $359 between December 2025 and March 2026. This rapid increase contrasts with the 22 months it took for the same group to grow their spending from $84 to $183. Even the median spenders increased their monthly AI spending from $60 to $72 over the same period. Notably, spending on AI app-builder platforms like Replit, Lovable, and Bolt saw even more dramatic growth, with the top 10% of customers spending five times more compared to January 2025. As AI agents advance, the Link wallet is being developed to allow these agents to transact on behalf of users, providing broad purchasing access and verified transactions without complex integrations.
