Agent traffic has recently surpassed human traffic on the internet, driven largely by agents building software and accessing Stripe's documentation and CLI tools, which now account for a significant portion of traffic. While agents have become adept at writing code and integrating with APIs, they still struggle with tasks like provisioning infrastructure and managing credentials. To address this, Stripe has expanded its Stripe Projects, enabling agents to provision and manage services more efficiently, with integrations like Hermes, Factory Droids, and Warp that allow agents to collaborate on projects persistently. Stripe Projects now supports 49 providers, including new additions like Metronome for billing, Wix for storefronts, and ClickHouse for observability, enabling agents to build AI-powered products seamlessly. Developers can now impose controls such as scoped credentials and spend limits to ensure safe infrastructure provisioning, while new features allow for a unified view of spending, the setting of per-provider limits, and the creation of isolated environments. Stripe plans to continue expanding Projects to cover the full lifecycle of agent-built software, incorporating deeper security measures and a data layer for metering and billing.
