Visa's Digital Commerce Authentication Program (DCAP) aims to enhance fraud reduction and improve authorization rates for card-not-present transactions by encouraging U.S. businesses to share detailed transaction data, such as device ID and customer email, with issuers during authentication. In exchange for this data sharing, qualifying transactions benefit from a reduced interchange fee. However, businesses must navigate the complexities of the program, including understanding transaction qualifications and integration requirements, to optimize their transaction economics. Stripe has collaborated with Visa to facilitate DCAP participation by implementing Stripe Authorization Boost, which intelligently determines when to apply additional risk data to issuers to maximize cost savings while maintaining conversion rates. This collaboration has resulted in significant network cost savings for Stripe businesses, with an increase in DCAP-eligible transactions and ongoing efforts to optimize eligibility for more transactions.
