Can AI Build a Billion-Dollar Support Concierge? We Tried It With One Prompt
Blog post from Stream
An experiment tested whether a single prompt could create the technical core of an AI support concierge, a demanding product requiring real-time chat, an AI agent, safety guardrails, and human operational controls. The authors argue that general-purpose models often produce impressive demos rather than viable products because they lack specialized, current domain knowledge and are constrained by limited context windows. Using Stream Agent Skills, preconfigured API keys, and a use-case-specific recipe, they generated a demo with a Postgres database, chat interface, Gemini-powered agent, knowledge retrieval through Turbopuffer, escalation workflows, configurable rules, ticket history, and an operator dashboard. The resulting bot could answer questions from a knowledge base, flag cases for human review, and log its actions, demonstrating that specialized tooling can rapidly generate infrastructure that once required months of expert work. However, the experiment emphasizes that this did not create a company, since customer trust, operations, staffing, and the broader work of building and sustaining a business remain beyond what a prompt can provide.
