Announcing Experimental Stream Chat Support for Jaspr
Blog post from Stream
Stream has announced experimental support for building chat interfaces in Jaspr, a Dart-based web framework increasingly used for sites such as dart.dev and flutter.dev, through the new stream_chat_jaspr package on pub.dev. Built on the existing Stream Chat Dart client, the SDK combines low-level API access with reusable UI components for channel lists, conversations, messages, reactions, attachments, threads, search, presence, and connection status, using patterns familiar to developers of Stream’s Flutter Chat SDK. It supports responsive multi-pane chat layouts and CSS-custom-property-based theming that can be updated without rebuilding components, with included light and dark themes and customizable styling. The release is intended to measure demand for production Jaspr applications and remains incomplete, lacking features such as offline persistence, polls, drafts, administrative tools, media capture and editing, bundled locales beyond English, and comprehensive emoji selection; Stream expects breaking changes and invites developers to provide feedback and request Flutter SDK feature parity.
