Cloud Workload Protection Platform (CWPP)
Blog post from Stream.Security
Cloud Workload Protection Platforms (CWPPs) are specialized security solutions aimed at protecting server workloads across diverse environments, such as hybrid and multi-cloud data centers, by offering comprehensive visibility and control over physical machines, virtual machines, containers, and serverless functions. They ensure consistent security through measures like system integrity protection, application control, behavioral monitoring, intrusion prevention, and runtime anti-malware protection, while also assessing risks during the development phase to facilitate safer deployments. CWPPs enhance an organization's security posture by providing features such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, data loss prevention, and malware protection, all contributing to layered security, cost-efficiency, scalability, and simplified management. However, potential drawbacks include complexity and integration challenges, significant initial and ongoing costs, performance overheads, vendor lock-in and compatibility issues, and the need to quickly adapt to evolving cyber threats, which require expertise and regular updates to address effectively.
