Strapi AI Content-Type Builder: Generate Schemas from Natural Language Prompts
Blog post from Strapi
Strapi AI adds a natural-language chat assistant to the Content-Type Builder that can generate and modify Collection Types, Single Types, Components, fields, and relations, explain existing schemas, and help plan data models using current content types as context. Available in development mode for Strapi 5.30 or later on Growth plans, including Cloud and self-hosted deployments, it uses a shared monthly AI-credit pool and produces unsaved changes that users must inspect, adjust, and save before Strapi writes standard schema.json files and restarts. Users can provide prompts, code, Figma projects, or images, with detailed descriptions of fields and relation cardinality generally producing more reliable results. The tool differs from external coding assistants and Strapi’s MCP integrations, which respectively edit code or manage content entries rather than live schemas through the Admin Panel. Careful review remains important for field settings, relation direction, dynamic-zone constraints, and naming, while production deployment, lifecycle hooks, plugin model extensions, custom implementation needs, and unsupported plans or environments still require manually maintained files, version control, and deployment workflows.
