Content type folders, a new Media Library, and much more
Blog post from Strapi
Strapi releases v5.53.0 through v5.56.0, issued during September 2026, introduce a rebuilt Media Library as the default experience, featuring persistent folder navigation, background uploads, global search and filtering, responsive layouts, image editing, improved file replacement, and MCP tools that let authorized AI agents manage media while honoring permissions. Content types can now be organized in nested folders shared between the Content-Type Builder and Content Manager, with the structure stored in version-controlled project files. Audit logs gain CSV export capabilities and broader coverage for releases, locales, tokens, administrator changes, webhooks, and AI-agent actions. Other updates improve live preview editing for Blocks, preserve unsaved work during token renewal, resolve non-English typing lag, refine relation creation, accelerate large v4 migration processes, fix filtered bulk updates, and close potential data exposure and email attachment security issues. The releases also introduce MCP compatibility changes, formally require React 18, retain the legacy Media Library as an optional fallback, and add an experimental Tailwind-based admin design system flag.
