AI Blog Publishing: Draft, Review, and Publish in Strapi with Claude Desktop

Strapi 5’s built-in Model Context Protocol server enables Claude Desktop to create, review, revise, and publish CMS content through conversational prompts, using the same permissions and Draft and Publish controls as the Content Manager. After a developer enables MCP and provides a suitably scoped Admin token, authors can generate draft articles from notes, retrieve them with list and get tools, update fields such as titles, body text, slugs, excerpts, and categories, and publish approved entries with a final command. New content is normally saved as a draft when Draft and Publish is enabled, although prompts should explicitly prohibit publishing during creation to prevent unintended state changes. The workflow requires deliberate handling of details that are not automatically generated, especially UID slugs, relation fields, locales, and excerpts, while Markdown body fields may be easier for AI to produce than structured rich-text blocks. Media uploads, dynamic zones, certain custom fields, and deeply nested relations still require manual work in the Admin Panel, though Claude can reference media assets already in Strapi’s library. The guidance emphasizes least-privilege token permissions and retaining human control over publication, since AI-generated copy still needs factual, editorial, and presentation review before it goes live.
