Summary

Stigg has launched an open-source Agent SDK designed to control AI-agent spending by wrapping existing model clients, checking available budgets before each call, and metering actual usage afterward. The SDK supports 12 AI providers and gateways, preserves vendors’ native client behavior and streaming, and can be added with minimal code changes while carrying customer and agent context through calls. It connects to Stigg’s billing infrastructure, which provides customer accounts, balances, usage ledgers, pricing rules, statements, and hierarchical budgets that can limit spending for individual agents, teams, and parent-child agent workflows. Budget denials prevent model calls and can trigger contextual upgrade, top-up, or administrator-request flows, while budgets and limits can be changed in Stigg without redeploying an application. The SDK also accounts for provider-specific usage-reporting differences, supports configurable behavior during Stigg outages, avoids duplicate retry metering, and is available under the MIT license with examples that can run using built-in mocks.
