Starburst has introduced version 3 of its ODBC driver, marking a significant upgrade from version 2 by transitioning from a third-party driver to an internally developed one, which enhances performance and versatility by leveraging the Trino spooling protocol. The new driver, compatible with Starburst Enterprise 468-e LTS and Starburst Galaxy, offers substantial improvements in data transfer speeds, evidenced by up to 400% performance gains in internal benchmarks, particularly in extracting large datasets. This version maintains backward compatibility, ensuring that existing customers can benefit from these enhancements, and while currently supported only on Windows, future updates aim to extend compatibility to Linux and Mac operating systems.
