StackBlitz June 2021 Update
Blog post from StackBlitz
In June 2021, StackBlitz made significant strides with its WebContainer platform by improving Node.js API support and adding new features, including a 20% increase in execution speed compared to local environments, terminal query parameter support for StackBlitz URLs, and enhanced shell functionality with persistent history and custom alias capabilities. The code editor saw Node.js types for autocompletion and prettier settings for jsx and tsx files, alongside improvements in GitHub importer experience and file icons. Collaborating with Vercel, StackBlitz introduced next.new for quick Next.js project starts, and expanded framework support with ExpressJS, Koa, NestJS, and others, while Vue 3 support emerged from beta. Looking ahead, the focus remains on stabilizing WebContainer runtime and enhancing developer experience, with plans to introduce full Node.js ESM support and native execution for non-JS tools like esbuild in the upcoming updates.
