Shopify partners with StackBlitz to bring Hydrogen development in-browser
Blog post from StackBlitz
Shopify has partnered with StackBlitz to enhance the development experience for its new React framework, Hydrogen, by enabling in-browser development through StackBlitz's WebContainers. Hydrogen, designed for commerce-focused applications, combines client and server components to optimize storefronts, addressing load time issues inherent in client-side React. Traditionally, setting up such an environment required multiple steps involving Node.js, Git, and a code editor, but with WebContainers, developers can launch a fully functional development environment by simply visiting hydrogen.new. This collaboration offers a seamless, fast, and local development experience, even without an internet connection, and represents a major shift towards web-based development environments. Both Shopify and StackBlitz share a vision of building for the web using the web, anticipating further collaborations and advancements in WebContainers technology in the coming months.
