Summary

Enterprise SSO in Android applications can be implemented with the AppAuth library rather than a dedicated SSOJet SDK, using standards-based OpenID Connect authorization code flow with PKCE as required for public native clients under RFC 8252. The approach requires registering the app as a native client, using an exact reverse-domain redirect URI handled through an Android intent filter, discovering the issuer configuration, launching authorization in a browser Custom Tab, and exchanging the returned code through AppAuth while preserving the PKCE verifier. WebViews are prohibited because embedded user-agents can expose corporate credentials, cookies, and consent flows to the host app, whereas Custom Tabs isolate browser authentication, retain SSO sessions, and support enterprise MFA and conditional-access policies. The guidance also recommends encrypted storage of AppAuth authentication state, refreshing and persisting tokens after updates, clearing both local and browser-based session state during logout, avoiding token logging, and preventing redirect-intent replay that could attempt to exchange a single-use authorization code twice.
