Summary

Speakeasy announced a partnership with Tailscale to provide private, identity-aware networking for enterprise Model Context Protocol deployments. The integration lets organizations run Speakeasy’s MCP gateway within their existing Tailscale tailnet, closing public routes and ensuring that agent tool requests include verified user, device, and tag information. Tailscale supplies private connectivity while Speakeasy adds MCP-specific policy enforcement, governance, and audit logging, allowing organizations to apply controls to AI agents similar to those used for employees accessing sensitive systems. Polar, a payment infrastructure provider, uses the arrangement to keep internal support and operations MCP servers private while maintaining a public-facing server for merchants. The service uses the Tailscale Kubernetes operator, scoped OAuth authorization, isolated workloads, and request attestation, and can also work with Speakeasy’s outbound-only MCP tunnels to avoid public internet exposure. Private network access is available to Enterprise Speakeasy AI Control Plane customers, with Tailscale as the first supported private-network provider.
