Model Context Protocol: TypeScript SDKs for the Agentic AI ecosystem

Anthropic's open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) is transforming the way AI agents integrate with third-party software by allowing them to interact with a wide range of systems, from reading files on a laptop to accessing Slack messages. Customization is enhanced through OpenAPI extensions, allowing developers to annotate operations with detailed tool descriptions and control tool initialization via scopes, which add a layer of safety by limiting operations based on defined tags. Despite MCP's rising prominence, Speakeasy continues to focus on delivering top-tier TypeScript SDKs, which can be integrated into other frameworks. Looking ahead, the MCP ecosystem is expected to expand with the development of remote server support, promising to further enhance the developer experience and broaden MCP's appeal.
