MCP authorization: Roll out AI to every team, safely
Blog post from Speakeasy
Speakeasy's new MCP authorization feature aims to streamline AI deployment across organizations by allowing IT departments to regain control over MCP server management, which has often been decentralized and beyond their oversight. This is achieved through the implementation of system roles, such as admin and member, along with custom roles that can be tailored to specific organizational needs, granting precise permissions. The solution also integrates with identity providers like Okta to ensure roles and permissions remain synchronized with existing identity infrastructures, thereby simplifying access management as employees join or leave teams. As MCP authorization is rolled out to all organizations, it facilitates secure and organized server access while providing IT with enhanced visibility and control, ultimately supporting a more structured and efficient AI deployment strategy. Future plans include adding tool-level scoping for even more granular control within MCP servers.
