Spacelift Announced as the First Infrastructure Automation Platform to Integrate with Cursor Origin
Blog post from Spacelift
Spacelift has announced an integration with Cursor Origin, Cursor’s AI-focused version control platform, making it the first infrastructure automation platform to support Origin as a launch partner. The integration extends Spacelift’s existing governance model for GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket to infrastructure changes initiated in Cursor, applying the same automated plans, OPA policy checks, approval workflows, and audit trails to both human- and AI-generated pull requests. Spacelift connects to Origin through a registered app with scoped source-code and API permissions, supports all of its existing infrastructure frameworks including Terraform, OpenTofu, Pulumi, CloudFormation, Ansible, and Kubernetes, and is available in all Spacelift regions. The announcement highlights concerns about AI-generated production infrastructure changes, citing Spacelift research that reports widespread willingness to deploy AI-generated code with limited review and frequent AI-related incidents, while positioning the integration as a way for teams to adopt AI-assisted development without weakening deployment controls.
