Introducing Agentic Batch Changes: the frontier agent for code change at scale

Sourcegraph has launched Agentic Batch Changes, a tool for coordinating codebase-wide modifications across thousands of repositories or large monorepos, addressing challenges such as security fixes, dependency upgrades, deprecated API replacements, framework rollouts, and CI modernization. Built on its existing Batch Changes platform and Deep Search agent, the system accepts natural-language change requests, scopes affected code, tests and adapts changes across differing repositories, generates pull requests, responds to CI failures, and tracks merge progress for human review. It primarily uses scripts for repetitive work while assigning repository-specific judgment tasks to agents such as Claude Code or Codex, with users able to monitor diffs and intervene throughout the process. During beta testing, customers merged nearly 1,000 changesets, including Mercari’s remediation of a GitHub Actions vulnerability across about 80 potentially affected repositories and Canva’s migration involving more than 50 pull requests. The service is available by default to Sourcegraph Cloud customers and uses outcome-based pricing, charging only for changesets that are merged.
