The next State of Code developer survey is open

Sonar is inviting developers to participate in its next State of Code survey, which examines how AI-generated code is reviewed, verified, and deployed as coding agents increase the volume of changes entering pull requests. Building on last year’s responses from more than 1,100 professionals, which found that 42% of committed code was AI-generated and that verification practices were inconsistent, the new survey investigates whether human and automated review processes are keeping pace with AI-assisted development. It asks about AI-authored changes reaching production without separate human review, AI systems reviewing their own output, shifts between code writing and review work, and whether productivity improvements from AI are continuing or leveling off. The approximately 20-minute survey will inform a data-driven report intended to help developers understand AI adoption while supporting the goal that code meets consistent quality and security standards regardless of whether it is written by people or agents.
