Summary

Gemini 4 Argon was evaluated on 4,444 Java tasks from HumanEval, MBPP, and ComplexCodeEval using SonarQube analysis, passing 466 of 544 tasks with executable tests for an 85.66% pass rate while returning no usable code for 69 tasks overall. It generated 619,852 lines across 85,245 short functions and 22,656 classes, with relatively shallow but frequent branching, and used 19.8 million tokens, including 11.9 million reasoning tokens. The analysis identified 10,166 findings: 9,626 code smells, 347 bugs, and 193 security vulnerabilities. Although maintainability issues represented 95% of findings, vulnerabilities were disproportionately severe, accounting for 22 blocker-level issues and concentrating mainly in cryptographic misconfiguration and insecure system resource handling. Bugs were distributed across several categories, including concurrency, performance, exception handling, and type safety, indicating that reliability review cannot focus on a single area. The evaluation concludes that test performance does not by itself establish production readiness, and recommends prioritizing automated security checks, broad reliability review, and separate tracking of missing completions.
