Gitar is joining Sonar

Gitar, an AI-native code validation platform founded by former Uber developer-infrastructure engineers, is joining Sonar to address the growing challenge of verifying AI-generated code beyond basic compilation, testing, and static analysis. SonarQube provides deterministic, auditable analysis for code quality, security, reliability, and architecture across more than 40 languages, while Gitar adds contextual AI review that evaluates a change’s intended behavior and automates pull request workflows. The companies expect their combined capabilities to improve validation by connecting static-analysis signals, AI-generated fixes, deterministic quality gates, and end-to-end lifecycle automation. Existing Gitar customers will retain their current integrations, configurations, support, and product operation, while future integrations are intended to make Gitar and SonarQube more closely connected. Through Sonar’s scale, which serves 7 million developers across 75% of the Fortune 100, Gitar aims to expand its vision of automated, codebase-aware validation that can identify issues, propose fixes, and verify them through CI.
