Automatic analysis for GitLab is now available
Blog post from Sonar
SonarQube Cloud has introduced automatic analysis for GitLab projects, allowing teams to scan repositories for code quality issues and security vulnerabilities without configuring GitLab Runners, CI pipelines, or .gitlab-ci.yml files. After users link a GitLab account, grant repository-reading permissions, and import eligible repositories, scans begin automatically and update on commits to the default branch and new merge requests across more than 20 languages. The feature extends similar zero-configuration integrations already available for GitHub and Azure DevOps, offering rapid feedback and code-health visibility for teams seeking a simple starting point. CI-based analysis remains preferable for larger or more complex production environments because it can resolve private dependencies, calculate test coverage, use customized compute resources, support monorepos and non-main branches, and provide greater control over execution and logs.
