A Growing Gap Between How People Live and How They’re Verified
Blog post from Socure
Socure argues that traditional binary address classifications can wrongly block legitimate applicants whose homes are labeled commercial or otherwise non-residential, including residents of assisted-living facilities, transitional housing, RV parks, and extended-stay locations. Its Conditional Residential capability for Socure Verify uses real-time address intelligence, metadata, and tenure signals to assess how an address is actually used rather than relying on a simple residential-versus-commercial designation. The approach is intended to allow lower-risk nontraditional residences to proceed through onboarding while continuing to block higher-risk locations such as P.O. boxes and retail storefronts. Socure says this can reduce false positives, manual reviews, abandonment, and lost revenue while improving conversion rates, auditability, and compliance decision-making through clearer reason codes and contextual risk controls.
