Snyk Security using Language Server Protocol
Blog post from Snyk
Snyk has introduced a Language Server Protocol-based architecture to extend its security analysis capabilities beyond individually maintained IDE plugins, enabling broader support for editors and environments such as Vim, Emacs, Sublime, Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, and JetBrains Fleet. The first officially supported implementation is Eclipse Plugin 2.0, which uses a Go-based Snyk Language Server and expands previous Eclipse support from Snyk Open Source to include Snyk Code and Snyk Infrastructure as Code findings. The plugin provides on-demand authentication and binary downloads, configurable local binary paths, automatic and manual scans, editor highlighting, issue markers in project and package views, filtering in Eclipse’s Problems view, hover details, code lenses for navigating Snyk Code data flows, and browser links to detailed Open Source and IaC issue information. Snyk plans to add the language server to its other IDE integrations, aiming to deliver more consistent functionality and faster improvements across development environments.
