Operational reporting at scale: Burst exports to 20,000 recipients
Blog post from Sigma
Sigma has introduced enterprise-scale email report bursting that can send personalized exports to up to 20,000 dynamic recipients from a single schedule, expanding the previous 500-recipient limit. The feature splits a workbook or report by a chosen control such as employee ID, account number, or store, queries current warehouse data for each recipient-specific slice, and sends the resulting files as email attachments. Administrators can monitor runs in Sigma’s Administration portal, deliver successful exports even when some slices fail, rerun only failed slices, and manage workload through delivery windows or separate warehouse connections. Intended uses include insurance claims notices, store-level inventory reports, HR compensation letters, compliance statements, and other high-volume operational reporting. Bursts support PDF, Excel, CSV, and, depending on content type, PowerPoint exports, while permissions, domain restrictions, and row-level recipient filtering provide governance. Sigma states that future updates will add additional export destinations, API triggering, and AI-assisted “reports as code” authoring.
