Introducing Iterative Analysis With Sigma Lookups
Blog post from Sigma
Sigma has introduced a new Lookup function that enhances data analysis by allowing users to combine data from cloud data warehouses in a manner similar to Excel's VLOOKUP, without requiring any coding knowledge. This feature is accessible through Sigma's Workbooks, which provide a user-friendly, spreadsheet-like interface that simplifies the data exploration process for business users, regardless of their technical background. The Lookup function translates user inputs into SQL queries that execute left joins, ensuring that the table's cardinality remains unchanged, thus avoiding common pitfalls associated with traditional joins. This tool empowers users to perform complex analyses, such as cohort analysis and data aggregation, by seamlessly pulling in and aggregating data from multiple sources, all while providing real-time feedback and flexibility. By making advanced analytical capabilities more accessible, Sigma Lookups enable business users to conduct thorough analyses independently, enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency.
