Another year, another $750,000 to Open Source maintainers
Blog post from Sentry
In 2025, Sentry continued its commitment to supporting Open Source software by donating $750,000 to maintainers, marking the fifth consecutive year of such contributions. This effort is part of the Open Source Pledge, which has collectively raised $4.5 million from member companies to date, encouraging others to join in supporting independent maintainers. Sentry's primary distribution of $375,000 is facilitated through thanks.dev, while additional funds are routed through Open Source Collective/Ecosyste.ms Funds and GitHub Sponsors, although the latter has seen reduced activity due to Microsoft's shift in focus towards AI. Sentry's support extends to various foundations, including NumFOCUS, which manages Python projects integral to modern AI stacks. The company emphasizes the importance of contributions to strengthen the Open Source ecosystem and encourages more companies to participate.
