We rethought the entire user experience of invitations in Sentry, a tool that alerts developers to defects in their production software, to make it easier for users to invite teammates and improve team-wide adoption. We introduced a new modal invitation system that is contextually aware and allows multiple users to be invited at once with unique permissions. We also democratized the process by allowing external users to request access themselves and removed the middleman entirely by enabling them to join an organization directly. Our A/B testing showed that these changes resulted in an 11-21% increase in accepted invitations, a significant increase in active users who use Sentry after accepting an invitation, and better overall user experience.
