Semaphore is Going Open Source in 30 days
Blog post from Semaphore
Semaphore is transitioning to an open-source model by releasing its core CI/CD platform under the Apache 2.0 license, reflecting a shift towards transparency and community collaboration. This move is in response to industry trends and aims to provide an alternative to current CI/CD solutions that often force developers to choose between open-source flexibility and vendor lock-in. The platform will be available in three editions: Semaphore Cloud, Semaphore Enterprise Edition, and Semaphore Community Edition, each designed to cater to different user needs while maintaining a clear distinction between open-source and commercial features. This decision was influenced by years of customer collaboration and seeks to leverage community input to enhance the platform while maintaining the security and reliability that Semaphore users expect. The open-source release is set to be announced at the Semaphore Summit, an online event that will feature discussions on the platform's future, technical roadmaps, and hands-on workshops to engage the developer community.
