Summary

sem-ai 0.4.0 enhances AI coding agent workflows in Semaphore by delivering compact pipeline and workflow responses that can reduce context usage substantially while retaining optional access to detailed data and filtering controls. The release adds context switching through command-line flags or environment variables, allowing agents and developers to use distinct organizations, credentials, service accounts, and least-privilege permission levels for different tasks. It also introduces access to Semaphore’s pre-flight checks API, enabling agents to create and test rules that validate requests, such as branch naming requirements, before workflows begin and block non-compliant builds. Although init job configurations for pre-flight checks cannot yet be changed programmatically, Semaphore plans to address this limitation in a future release. Plugins for Claude Code and Codex update automatically, while direct sem-ai CLI users currently update manually.
