Semaphore announced a billing update effective October 15, 2022, where jobs taking less than a minute will be billed for a full 60 seconds, while jobs exceeding that duration will continue to be billed for actual time used. This change aims to optimize resource allocation by accounting for backend processes that consume machine time and discouraging the excessive use of small jobs that impact cloud resource availability. For most organizations, this adjustment is expected to result in less than a 1% increase in monthly spending, as few jobs typically finish within a minute.
