Announcement: Ubuntu 20.04 Deprecation in Semaphore
Blog post from Semaphore
Ubuntu 20.04 is nearing the end of its supported lifecycle on Semaphore, prompting the announcement of its deprecation and end of life, with a recommendation for users to transition to Ubuntu 24.04 ahead of Ubuntu 22.04's scheduled deprecation in Q2 of 2026. The deprecation process involves a series of brownout periods starting in February 2026, during which jobs configured to run on Ubuntu 20.04 will temporarily fail to start for increasing lengths of time, culminating in its complete removal from the platform in March 2026. This phased approach aims to help users identify and migrate remaining usage to supported Ubuntu versions, ensuring the continued security, reliability, and maintainability of Semaphore's platform. Users are advised to update their pipelines, validate new environments, and seek assistance if needed before the brownout periods commence to avoid disruptions.
