ScyllaDB Open Source 4.2 is a significant update to the NoSQL database, enhancing performance and stability with features such as improved query efficiency through binary search in SSTable promoted indexes and expanded operations in the Alternator API. The release also introduces Alternator SSL configuration options and the ability to start Alternator with HTTPS support in Docker. It includes the implementation of the FilterExpression syntax for query filtering and supports additional filtering operators. The update optimizes SSTable management by reshaping and resharding before file movement to the data directory, reducing compactions and backlog work. Additionally, Change Data Capture (CDC) is being tested for future production readiness.
