Sauce Labs has introduced native IDE plugins for VS Code, compatible forks such as Cursor and Windsurf, and JetBrains-based editors including IntelliJ IDEA, Android Studio, PyCharm, WebStorm, and Rider, enabling developers and QA teams to access its Real Device Cloud and AI test authoring without leaving their coding environment. Built on the Real Device Access API, the plugins let users browse and filter devices across Sauce Labs regions, launch live sessions, interact with streamed device screens, install APK or IPA builds, view Appium, device, and network logs, and connect to Sauce-hosted Appium servers automatically. The integrated Sauce AI feature generates editable test code from plain-language prompts for frameworks and languages including Java, TypeScript, Python, Espresso, and XCUI, with tests saved directly to local repositories for existing CI/CD workflows. Sauce Labs positions the approach as a way to reduce disruption caused by switching between an IDE and browser-based testing tools, distinguishing it from extensions that open separate browser tabs by streaming live device sessions directly in an editor panel and offering one-click Appium connection support.
