How to give your content the context it needs
Blog post from Sanity
AI adoption can improve drafting and summarization within existing tools, but meaningful transformation requires organizations to redesign the knowledge and workflows that AI depends on. An education content team illustrates the problem: because its style guide and reading-level tools were disconnected, staff repeatedly attached documents, transferred drafts between systems, and manually resolved conflicts. The central distinction is between content and context, with context including authoritative sources, version status, applicability, ownership, and rules that enable people and AI agents to use content correctly. Organizations should address two underlying gaps—fragmented context and poorly defined workflows—rather than relying on better prompts alone, and should explicitly define responsibilities, approvals, automated checks, conflict resolution, and audit records for people, agents, and systems. The proposed approach is to map both the information needed for a use case and the steps work follows from request to publication. Sanity positions its Knowledge Bases and Workflows beta capabilities as tools for connecting vetted, structured knowledge with visible processes, while emphasizing that teams remain responsible for selecting trusted sources, resolving contradictions, and designing their own governance.
