Summary

Error rate measures application failures over time or relative to traffic, with errors per hour indicating operational burden and errors per request showing service quality independent of volume changes. Rollbar’s Adaptive Alerts monitor exception-rate anomalies rather than individual errors, learning each project’s normal patterns from two weeks of hourly historical data and notifying teams of statistically unusual increases within up to ten minutes. Alerts track raw exception types separately by environment, allowing distributed spikes across new error groups to be detected, and users configure a minimum hourly exception threshold and low, medium, or high sensitivity level. The feature applies only to exceptions, not log messages, and is available on Rollbar Advanced and Enterprise plans.
