How to Enroll in the App Store Small Business Program
Blog post from RevenueCat
Apple's introduction of the App Store Small Business Program has significantly impacted the developer community by halving the App Store commission for small developers from 30% to 15% for those whose apps generate less than $1 million in annual revenue. Upon exceeding this revenue threshold, developers become ineligible for the program. This initiative, which aims to support indie developers by increasing their take-home pay, has been particularly beneficial for RevenueCat customers, most of whom qualify for the reduced rate. Developers can determine their eligibility through the RevenueCat dashboard and must apply by December 18, 2020, to benefit from the new commission rate starting January 1, 2021. Once approved, developers must update their RevenueCat settings to reflect their participation in the program. This change is seen as a pivotal move to support smaller developers by allowing them to reinvest in their businesses, covering expenses like marketing and development tools.
