Welcoming Rehan van der Merwe, our new Devops Engineer

Rehan van der Merwe is joining Resend as a DevOps Engineer, bringing a wealth of cloud engineering expertise from previous roles at companies like DataChef, MessageBird, and Ship Logic, as well as recognition as one of the few AWS Heroes worldwide. Rehan's journey into software development is non-traditional, originating from a small town with limited educational resources, leading him through various online studies and Microsoft certifications in programming and electrical engineering. He is excited to join Resend due to their alignment with his values and the innovative solutions they offer for email problems he has encountered before. Rehan draws inspiration from working with talented and compassionate colleagues and is motivated by building impactful products while balancing his role as a family man. Outside of work, he enjoys gaming, anime, and spending time with friends and family, and he values nature settings for relaxation. His favorite tool is Jetbrains IDEs, although he's concerned about their lag in the AI race compared to VS Code. Rehan's advice to ambitious software engineers includes gaining a wide range of experiences, specializing in a few fields, building a personal brand, and embracing challenges outside one's comfort zone.
